Missing persons assignments most often revolve around finding long-lost relatives, locating classmates and missing acquaintances.  Clients may be looking for a son who has not been heard from in a long while, an old army buddy, a previous love interest, missing students for a high school reunion, etc, etc.  This type of skip tracing assignment will usually require Internet research, canvassing by telephone and commercial databases.  We especially like these types of investigations because both the client and the subject are normally very happy with a successful result and makes for a great client testimonial.

Missing heirs also make up a portion of the "Long-Time-No-See" category of missing persons, but the investigative process may be a bit different than the run of the mill friends and relatives genre.  Many times you will not know if there is an heir or what their name might be.  Genealogical research skills will be paramount, though I would personally defer to a specialist in heirs if it came to tracing family histories.  Access to the decedent’s personal property doesn’t hurt either; I have often found unknown relatives and heirs through an address book, personal letters, invitations and the occasional greeting card which had been carefully tucked away.
